Product Workbench, BOM Compare shows multiple values for Make/Buy

When I use the PWB for BOM Compare (11g), I have a custom view that includes the Planning attribute for Make/Buy.  When I view a single bom, it appears normal (one value, make or buy) but when I use the bom compare, the field will sometimes show "Make (Buy)" or "Buy (Make)".

Does anyone know why the second value is being shown in brackets?
