CRM Account Hierachy

Hi, we are thinking about introducing an Account hierachy into our CRM system. We have "Accounts" with Branches in different parts of the world.

We would like to link the branches to a master account in such a way as to be able to report on all opportunites relating to all branches and master account. Or be able to report on the individual branches only.

There appears to be a few ways to possibly do this, but wondered if anyone has done this already and has any advice or help they could pass on to me, thank you all very much.
