Configuring Oracle 10g EM on Virtual server with long server name.

Hi.

I’m looking for some guidance or advice on how to solve a problem setting up the Database control on a new Oracle 10g installation.


We are testing the performance of Oracle on a virtual server so I have a VMWare virtual server running Windows 2008 R2 Standard 64bit, I have installed Oracle database 64 bit standard edition 10.2.0.4 and applied the patchset to bring it up to version 10.2.0.5.  I have created the database instance and it is up and running and I’m able to login and access the databases.  The problem occurs when trying to create the Enterprise manager database control.  The server name is more than 32 characters long so I get the error message saying the hostname is invalid when I
