11.2.0.2 Default Storage Binary XML Problems

Does anybody know how I can prevent the database to store the xmltype in Binary XML without having to change the application code?

From 11.2.0.1. to 11.2.0.2 the default storage for XMLTYPE is changed from CLOB to Binary XML. We want to stay with CLOB and do not want to change our Application Code. Is there a way to do this? An undocumented Parameter perhaps?
