Need help with recovery of RMAN image copies

 Hi,

i have been practising RMAN hot backup since few days. I would like to know some points related to recovery.

The scenario is :

I am taking image copies of all the datafiles,controlfile and archives. I want to restore whole database on other machine. I have same directory structure on both machines. I want to use same database name and same locations on other machine.

My question is,

*Do i need to restore and recover the image copies or only recover by applying redo logs?* Do i need to use the SWITCH command here?
