ASM and Solaris partitions

Is there an oracle document that describes how to prepare a Solaris disk partition for  use by ASM.  I have seen the document about not using the first 1M, but we have been asked to change ownership of the file system to Oracle so that the oracle account can mount and unmount the ASM file systems.
