Grid Control how to check availability agentless

 Hi all.

Does anyone know how to check database availability without agent on board to the server database ?

 For example, I need to verify if oracle database (or mssql) is up and running directly from OMS server without installing agent to all server.

Only metric that I need is availability. Is it possible ?
