unable to complete installation of OEM agent on a remote box

I've successfully installed OEM 11.1 on a redhat linux (64-bit) box. The agent has also been installed on this box.  
I'm now trying to install the agent on another box that has a database that I want to monitor with OEM. However, when I run agentDownload.linux_x64 I get two error messages after runInstaller launches:
 
/opt/oracle/product/agent/11.1.0.1/agentDownload11.1.0.1.0Oui/Disk1/stage/shiphomeproperties.xml (No such file or directory)
*** Specify Oracle Management Service Location ***
The specified Management Service on host {OMS_SERVER_HOST} at port 7799 is unreachable. Check the connection details for the Management Service to ensure that you entered the value for the host name correctly
