Problem with Excel sheet Number Format.

Hi All,
I have some problem with Excel output.I selected a field from my DB table which is of type Varchar2. I made this as text in RTF and cehcked the  output in excel it is shwoing the number in scientific format(9.23563e+11) instead of 923563212545. Then i chnaged the field to Number format in RTf then also it is showing as scientific format(9.23563e+11) instead of 923563212545.But when i am selecting this field in excel cell it is showing the number fully but it is shwoing the scientific format when i am not selecting it . Any input will be appreciated .
