Save Instance with ProductConfigurator web service with ABO

On 8.1.1.4 SIA vanilla application when I add a product to a root quote line item with the following product configurator web services then the SOAPUI responses have a status of success but the new quote line item is not added to the quote in the database. ABO is enabled on the EAI server component. The response from the endconfiguration web service does contain the added quote item but it is not saved. In the application UI the product can be added in product configurator without any error.

 

Is there something else needed to getting configuration changes saved with ABO enabled?
