Contracts Email Notification

Can we switch e-mail notifications by contract type (or something similar). The requirement is for approval and  expiry notifications (plus others) to be e-mailed out for one sets of contracts and repressed for another.

Any idea?

Also on E-Business Suite side can email notification be set on/off by notification type?
