Status discrepancy from v$backup view

 I am using the quest QMX oracle monitoring tools. One of the alerts send me an email that last night around 9:30pm some of the backup file# shows a status of UNKNOWN ERROR. When I checked the v$backup view this morning, the status column of all files show a status of NOT ACTIVE. In addition, I don't have any backup scheduled to run last night. I am really not sure where did the monitor picked up the alerts from. It is so hard for me to catch it when the status actually is showing UNKNOWN ERROR. Is there another view
