Standby database activation question

I have setup dataguard in 10g (no broker) on 2 separate nodes.  We are on AIX.. We are trying to create a new process for data corruption scenarios.  One issue we are running into is that activating the standby database is all well and good, but changing the application that runs against it and the multitude of clients that connect to it to connect to another node is a beast.   In our 9i days on another application we had a manual replication process shipping archive logs over to the second node and in the chance of corruption we would varyoff
