Accessing iSCSI disks (LUNs) upon reboot as ZFS filesystem on the initiator

Hello,
Reading the System Administration Guide - Devices and File Systems page 258 (inside Configuring iSCSI Storage Devices with COMSTAR) I got some doubts to which I'd appreciate some helpful clarifications.
From the 1st paragraph, is that true that I must format the disk with UFS file system in order to "declare" it in /etc/vfstab or did I misunderstood some point?
Still in the 1st paragraph, what about the sentence "Then, create a new SMF service for mounting iSCSI disks that depends on the iSCSI initiator service" ?
I know about writing simple SMF services with dependencies, but the problem is: Shall I create a SMF service to mount (but mount a UFS or ZFS?) or declare "
