Upgrade Database & OS

 I have to upgrade a 9.2.0.8 database that's on AIX 5.3 to 11.2.0.2.  Although 11gR2 is certified on AIX5.3, we'd like to upgrade the OS to AIX6.1 as-well.  The upgrade guide states that you should upgrade your OS first, however 9.2 is not certified on AIX6.1, so does this limit my upgrade methods?  In other words, am I limited to export/import if we upgrade the OS first to AIX6.1?  Or should we first upgrade the database (using DBUA for example) to 11gR2 first, test, test, test and then upgrade the OS?
Any and all feedback is appreciated.
