How I can get GL Date and Period info. from MTL_MATERIAL_TRANSACTION table. Is it ORG_ACCT_PERIOD table? Is it true Inventory uses its own Accounting Period not General Ledger GL_PERIODS?

Whats the purpose of having ORG_ACCT_PERIOD table if GL_PERIODS exists in General Ledger.
