Disable Material Sub-Element

 We are using Standard Cost and use only the Material Element. We do not use any Sub-element. However while defining Costs, system also expects a Sub-element, though we defined a sub-element - Material. The users do not want to key in an additional field of Sub-element while defining costs.

Is there a way to disable the Sub-element field, in the Item Costs window.
