Using Formulas in Web ADI Integrator

We have a need to use a conditional formula in one of our Web ADI integrators.  I know that I can insert a simple Excel formula in to the layout and I have confirmed that it works but I have been unable to get the IF formula to work.  We get a VB Script error when the template is opening in Excel.
Does anyone have any experience with using anything other than a simple mathematical formula in an Integrator?
