Good archivelog backup, or not?

Yesterday, I did an RMAN archivelog backup from the command line. We send our archivelog backups to a remote disk array, so I have to use the format string. On my first attempt, I fat-fingered it, and got a decent number of error messages because there was no such location. I suppose I should have exited and gone back in at the point, but instead, I retyped the command, and RMAN proceeded to back up the archive logs that I specified. When it finished, I exited with no apparent errors. However, now when I

query the RMAN backup views, they report that my archivelog backup "failed".

Howdy, Stranger!
