Failure Modes: Cascading (Nested) List?

 Is it possible to configure Failure Modes (which show up on Affected Items page of PSRs) as a cascading list?  Agile lets you set up different lists for different Part subclasses, but...

1.  we do not subclass our Parts

2.  failure modes are more related to process step than to (what we would view as sensible) Part subclass hierarchy

3. We have many (>100) failure modes, but a cascading list would make it easier for users to select.

If (as I expect) the answer is no, can I use a custom (affected item or PSR) attribute to do this? If I do so, will I lose visibility into failure modes with PQM Analytics and Agile standard PQM reports?
