7410 and Active Directory - Error

 I am attempting to connect our 7410 controller to our Active Directory structure on our Campus.   I am just a small department so my access to the AD is limited to our little branch (tree forest what ever the AD call it now-a-days)

I get the following error message as a pop up: "The specified domain controller could not be contacted, or the domain is invalid for the controller."

A web search for this deals leads me to some DNS issues which i don't think our the problem.

A few details

Our 7410 is running version 2010.08.17.2.1,1-1.21, which I think is the latest version.
