Unit Number and Asset ID

 We are looking for  ways to be able to change the Unit number but not the Asset number, we would like to use the same asset number for a new unit and the old unit will be deactivated/retire.   And what would be the pros and cons on doing this in JDE 9.0 FA, work order and PM?
