What is the best path to upgrade 10.2.0.4 32-bit to 11.2.0.2 64-bit on a new server?

We are currently running Oracle 10.2.0.4 32-bit on RHEL 4, but are wanting to upgrade to Oracle 11.2.0.2 64-bit on RHEL 5.  I've read certain docs that sort of contradict each other or at least my interpretation of them did.  I'm wanting to know if it's a good idea to go from 10.2.0.4 32-bit directly to 11.2.0.2 64-bit or if I should add an intermediate step and go from 10.2.0.4 32-bit -> 11.2.0.2 32-bit -> 11.2.0.2 64-bit?  I hope that makes sense.  Also, since I'm going to be working on a new server, should I move the data files there
