Item Supplier relationship

Hi,

Can someone tell me the following please:

1. where can I define a supplier to purchase a stocked item from? We are trying to automate the process of placing purchase orders from based on Min/Max report. Simply put where can i define a supplier for an Item?

2. Is there a place to define 'alternate item' in item master?
