Increate sendmail message size

  Can anyone explain how to increase the maximum send size of a sendmail mail message?  I would like to make this value 5M but the forums and on-line discussions I have found are very confusing.  Is configuring sendmail as difficult as it seams?

 

Any help is appreciated, but please keep it as simple as possible.  I am an Oracle eBusiness DBA and developer who is also tasked with Solaris system administration, so this is not my primary area of expertise.  OS version follows.
