Cannot convert number to NodeSet

Trying to calculate a rate based off current hours - adjustments divided by hours and get the error:
Cannot convert number to NodeSet.

Here is the syntax I am using:

<?sum((current-group()/CURRENT_AMOUNT)-../EMPLOYEE_DETAILS/WC_ADJUSTMENT) div sum(current-group()/CURRENT_HOURS)?>

XML Publisher Application Server?
yes, Linux x86-64

Steps to Reproduce
When trying to preview an RTF template I get the following: Cannot convert number to NodeSet.

Correspondence with Oracle SR.

 Does this work in the Publisher Desktop utility? I can not get this to work with the utility either.
 Have you tried using function format-number instead? Yes, but it does not return the correct values. I did not keep the syntax.
