US PAY: W4 changes in self service - how effective date interacts with payroll runs

edited Jun 8, 2011 4:40AM in Payroll and OTL - EBS (MOSC) Question
  Hi,

I am in the process of testing the ability to update W4 through Employee Self Service in order to implement this functionality soon.

I found that if a check hasn't been run yet for the previous pay period, the W4 changes affect the previous pay period paycheck even though the effective date of the W4 change is in a new period. Is this correct? (I found it only affects it up until the check date).

Ex. Pay Period #12 is 05/23/11 to 06/05/11 with paycheck date of 06/10/11.  Employee makes W4 change in self service on 06/06 before payroll for PE#12 05/23-06/05 is run.  Payroll is run for PE#12 and the resulting check shows the new W4 information that is effective 06/06 - and it is used for calculations.

Howdy, Stranger!
