Inactivate item

 Hi,

We are trying to inactivate an item at the org level, but get a msg: This field cannot be updated  because there are Open Sales Order lines, there is an open order but for a different item then the one we need to inactivate.  This functionality was available in 11i, but since upgrading to R12 it is not.

Does anyone know if this function is available in R12?  Everything I've read says that this is not a bug.
