How to Apply Patch 8350262

Never done any patch before. Any one can tell me the steps to apply Patch 8350262 ?

Download the patch, unzipped it, it has: 
    (folder)etc
    (folder)files
    killDBConsole
    killDBConsole.pl
    README.txt

do I need to download toos: p6880880_111000_platform.zip?
