Segment - Descriptions

Does anyone know where I can find the english language descriptions for segment columns?  For example, on the GL Code Combinations table there are fields called Segment1, 2, 3, ... etc.  These are values that are custom to a particular customer.  These values in my case are numerics for which there is an english language description.  I know there are descriptions because they appear on the front end screens.  Does anyone know where I can find these custom field descriptions?
