Back Orderable Attributes in Web option inventory behaves for OM and istore Modules

  There is item attribute (Back Orderable) in Itemsàmaster items àWeb option tab in inventory

What is meaning of this item attributes.User guide says “ Indicate whether this item can be backordered, if ATP fails”. What’s functionality?

For eg I have item “as_item1“which enabled for ATP and set up Atp rule with lead time of 10 days having on hand 5 qty

I placed order for item as_item1 with qty 10 and ATP failed.

How this attributes works?

Is it allowed to place order from istore?

Please explain me how this attribute Back Orderable in web option works?
