Legacy system 8.1.7.0.0 Enterprise Edition VMS 7.3-2

in Enterprise Manager Generic (MOSC) Question
We have a legacy system and need to move the drives to a new storage array.  The current oracle 8.1.7.0.0 is setup using hard device names ie:  $1$dga103 the new array requires a different naming convention.  We want to create a logical name ie: new drive name is dsa600 and it's logical name would be the old $1$dga103 .... will Oracle require any modifications to startup?  Or will it recognize the logical name and march happily along?  We have done this with many other systems/databases/software/etc.  but the VMS is legacy and we don't really have a way to setup a
