Performance impact and auditing

Hi all, I need to turn on system auditing for an oracle (9i) instance and I have not done this before.  I am wondering what type of performance impact this will have on the system.  I need to capture the user, the command and the time.  Since this is an old system (9i), I am wondering if this will noticeably slow things down.
