Questions about tables rebuild for performance optimizing

1. Should we rebuild tables on routine basis?
2. How often tables have to be rebuilt?
3. How can I know if a table has to be rebuild?
4. Advantages/Disadvantages?
5. Are there any parameters or considerations we should keep in mind before rebuilding any table?
6. Any database tables queries i should use to select the tables which need rebuilding or this can be done indiscriminately?
