Is Service Request status related to the aging in reports?

in CRM On Demand - Reports and Dashboards (MOSC) Question
Hi,

I have a question regarding the aging of service requests in the reporting.

Say the request is open for 10 days but 5 of these days the status was 'pending' - will the average days open still be 10? does anything change in relation to status?
