4-4-5 Period Calendar - the 53rd week

 In our 4-4-5 Period definition simple math tells us we need to have a 53rd week periodically.  Right now its in December 2012, December 2018, December 2024.  Is there/was there any magic to pickng those dates?  Our business users want to move some periods around, and we're assuming the dates were picked for a reason, but not sure what the reason is.
