Hello,
Could you, please, help me understand why SPARC would be more compeling than X86?
If I consider matching memory, a key resource for consolidating Oracle Database in VMs or containers, SPARC would be prohibitely more expensive.
Sun Fire X4470 M2 Server
4 Intel Xeon E7-4870, 10-core 2.4 GHz
512 GB (64 x 8 GB DIMMs) DDR3 1333 MHz
$58,615.00

SPARC Enterprise M4000 Server
4 x 2.66 GHz SPARC64 VII+ on 2 Boards
32 GB (16 x 2 GB Single Rank DIMMs)
$81,458.00

What would be clear arguments for maintaining SPARC when you simple have a choice on X86?

If not SPARC, then on X86 people tend to form a case against Solaris, just because they argue that "Linux is the natural choice for X86".

Howdy, Stranger!
