Update picklist field after todays date passes date in another field

Hi,

I have a maintenance record, which includes the fields 'Status' and 'Maintenance end date'.

I wanted to create a function or workflow so that when the maintenance end date is reached (e.g. end date is on the 27th July 2011 and today it is 28 july 2011) then the Status will automatically change to 'Inactive'.

Does anyone know how i could do this??
