Issues with E1 Kernels

We had some issues where the our JDE services bounce every night.  Several times, the JDE kernel jobs were stuck in MUTX wait so we have to end them abnormally.  We are on Release 9.0 and Tools Release 8.98.3.2.  Just wondering if anyone else had this issue and what you did to resolve it.
