Converting a Solaris 10 "whole-root" zone to "sparse-root" zone
Hello,
While planning consolidations I was thinking that I could save a lot of space if I migrate several "whole-root" zones to "sparse-root" zones onto a few of hardware running Solaris 10.
I'd save more space than if I migrate the same set of zones onto a Solaris 11 Express/Solaris 11 systems where all such zones must continue to be "whole-root".
So, if I update both the source and target GZs to the latest patch levels and as long as the target GZ is from an equal or higher release, I think I'll succeed.
Of course I'm assuming the NGZs don't have any special requirements or configs on the usually inherit-pkg-dir set.
