About swap space and TMPFS

edited Jul 28, 2011 3:11AM in Oracle Solaris System Administration (MOSC) 1 commentAnswered ✓
Hello,
I have an application that makes extensive use of temporary files.
So I was considering setting up TMPFS in replacement of the actual NFS mounted dir.
The physical machine has 32GB of RAM and the temporary files can grow much higher than this amount.

I was considering adding more local disks in order to grow swap space and create a tmpfs with -o for leaving part of swap for usual system operation.
But I don't know, for example, if I add a mirror of 146GB dedicated to swap and define a tmpfs limited to 100GB would be OK in terms of a standard/generic system installation.

Howdy, Stranger!
