Cycle Counting:How do we enter counts for a cycle count request that is late and past due

We have some cycle count requets for some items that were due to be counted 2 months ago .The late days is 1.These requests appear in  Cycle Count Open Requests Listing report.if the user now tries to pull up these items in teh cycle count entries form they do not appear there and if the user tries to enter teh sequence# (the original sequence# against which these were supposed to be counted), he gets an error "please choose an existing sequence number or leave blank for unscheduled entries"

What is the correct process to manage this scenario?
