I am being told to hold off on upgrading compute nodes to OL 5.5 until after 11.2.2.3.4 is applied to Storage Servers.   Do you know why this is being recommended?

I'd like to clarify the answer to this question, which was raised during the Exadata Patching webinar today.  While we do have numerous customers already on OEL 5.5, we have seen a rare issue related to the ofa package.  While I did mention you could upgrade to 5.5 at any time and it is supported, I should have pointed out this particular item.  You may decide to postpone your 5.5 upgrade until 11.2.2.3.4 is released.

The 11.2.2.3.4 has a recommended ofa version that gets applied along with the db minimal pack to the compute node. This is to correct a bug related to the 5.5 kernel.

Howdy, Stranger!
