Out of swap question

edited Aug 2, 2011 8:46PM in Oracle Solaris System Administration (MOSC) 6 commentsAnswered ✓
Hi

I have two clustered Sparc64 M4000 with 96Gb memory with ZFS systemdisk. Last night I got errors about running out of swap, errors like

WARNING: Sorry, no swap space to grow stack for pid

WARNING: /tmp: File system full, swap space limit exceeded

I will add more swap but what puzzles me is the swap-command. Who is lying the least? Is it ZFs that makes swap confused?

uname -a
SunOS xxxxxx 5.10 Generic_142909-17 sun4u sparc SUNW,SPARC-Enterprise

# swap -s
total: 95058880k bytes allocated + 40338656k reserved = 135397536k used, 2441584k available

99% used

# swap -l
swapfile             dev  swaplo blocks   free
/dev/zvol/dsk/rpool/swap 256,1      16 167772144 128167200

Howdy, Stranger!
