Projects & Assets integration

When we change any information on Projects like lets say the project long name - the asset information that is tied to this project is getting wiped out.

I think that this may be related to the CCID the asset derives from the project - is it related to this - should the asset key flexfield be recompiled - why does the asset get wiped out for any small change on the project information.

Please advise.
