'Locking' BUI Interfaces to Controllers

We are in the process of changing our network connectivity configuration and I was told we need to lock the heads after we configure the BUI's.  We are running a 7310 in Active-Passive mode and right now we have the BUI only going to 1 head over the data network.  We are planning on adding 2 LACP ports to the existing 2 and seperating adding NGe2 (Head A) and NGe3 (Head as pure BUI interfaces on another subnet.  Is there a document that describes how to lock the interfaces?
