Is it possible to set a default for the Role and Reverse Role for Account Partners?

I am trying to set a default for the Role and Reverse Role for Account Partners. I can set a default in teh Role and Reverse Role setup, but it does not apply these defaults when I add a new Account Partner.  Any suggestions?
