SL48 not found by system

I should preface this by saying I'm from the Linux world, so Solaris, while not new, is very different to me. Anyways I am trying to setup a sam-qfs system and want to use our SL48 tape library. It uses SAS to connect to the host. Reading these docs here, the patch level is high enough to support the SAS HBA.Yet no devices are showing up in /dev/rmt. I see this in dmesg: mptsas request inquiry page 0x83 for target:a, lun:0 failed! The host is a SPARC T3-1, running SunOS 5.10 Generic_144500-19 sun4v sparc sun4v
