Calculating taxes on Payables invoices imported via interface tables

I'm hoping someone here can clarify something for us:

 

We are upgrading to  R12.1.3 and we are implementing Oracle IPM to scan and process A/P invoices.  The plan is for those invoices to be imported into Payables via the ap_invoices_interface / ap_invoice_lines_interfaces tables.  We're looking into the use of EB-Tax to calculate taxes on those invoices where we need to self-assess and we're being told that we will need to bring up those invoices in Invoice Workbench and click Calculate Tax for taxes to be calculated.  Is this true? Do we have to query up each invoice where we need to self-assess taxes and click Calculate Tax?  Is there no mechanism
