Full package deployment best practices

Hi, I have been deploying update packages from time to time when new objects are created or modified. I was asked our other CNC that the best practice is to build and deploy full package once a month. This is confusing to me as we should only be deploying the changes (not all objects from scratch every month). I appreciate your expert opinions.Thanks
